The objective of the Project Management Unit is to identify, develop, manage, review, monitor and evaluate relevant LED projects in support of the overall development objective. Three main focus areas have been identified at this point, namely the Local Agribusiness Development Alliance (LADA) programme (funded by the Flanders Internaional Co-operation Agency - FICA), projects connect to the Premier’s “Greening of Limpopo” programme; and projects connected to the renewal and development of mining towns and areas in Limpopo (the latter in partnership with SALGA and the Mineworkers Development Agency, MDA).

  • LADA – The purpose of the program is to strengthen local community institutions (e.g. CPIs, Farmers Associations, Cooperatives etc. ) performance and participation in the agricultural value chain (with a particular focus on women and youth); and to develop replicable good practice models.
  • ‘Greening of Limpopo’ - There are several main sectors of the Green Economy:
    Renewable energy
    Green buildings
    Clean transportation
    Water management
    Waste Management
    Land management
    Green markets

The LLEDRC will identify and bid for various projects within the above sectors. This will allow for the LLEDRC to contribute towards the Limpopo Employment, Growth & Development Plan.

  • Renewal & Development of Mining Towns/Areas – Using the knowledge and skills of the centre, it is well positioned to assist with rehabilitation and capacity building of some of the mining towns/areas in Limpopo. The centre will identify projects which are in line with its aims & objectives.
